Greenwich Hospital awards £636,000 three-year grant to the RMA – The Royal Marines Charity to support former and serving personnel and their families

Greenwich Hospital has awarded a £636,000 three-year grant to the RMA – The Royal Marines Charity (RMA) to support its continuing work with serving and former Royal Marines personnel and their families.

The RMA – The Royal Marines Charity provides both preventative and responsive benevolence support to serving and former personnel and their families. This includes tailored assistance for those facing financial hardship, emotional or physical challenges, or in need of employment support following compulsory discharge or on completion of service. They also provide employment support to veterans.

The funding award will provide for a wide range of grants to help restore independence and dignity among recipients. An element of the funding will also assist individuals and families in overcoming debt, enabling them to work towards financial stability and long-term resilience.

A core focus of the RMA – The Royal Marines Charity is its work with wounded and injured serving and former Royal Marines. This funding will enable the Charity to expand its reach and continue to provide personalised support that allows individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.

Based out of Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM), the Charity has a national footprint across the UK, with support teams in England and Scotland, and members in over 120 branches enabling the Charity to remain close to its community and offer accessible support to its active membership.

Deirdre Mills, Director of Greenwich Hospital, said:

“The RMA – the Royal Marines Charity provides a vital lifeline to those who have served and sacrificed, and we are proud to support their work through this grant. By helping individuals and families navigate times of difficulty—whether through financial support, rehabilitation, or transition to civilian life—the RMA plays an essential role in maintaining the wellbeing and dignity of the Royal Marines community. Greenwich Hospital is committed to ensuring this support continues to reach those who need it most.”

Matt Jackson DSO, Chief Executive Officer of the RMA – the Royal Marines Charity, said:

“We are profoundly grateful to Greenwich Hospital for their steadfast support and confidence in our mission. This vital funding empowers us to stand alongside Royal Marines and their families at the most pivotal moments – whether transitioning to civilian life, confronting financial hardship, or recovering from physical or psychological trauma. It enables us to deliver timely, practical assistance and adapt to the evolving needs of our community, ensuring every individual can access the right support precisely when they need it most.”
