Based in the South West, Veterans Outdoors is a unique charity offering support, friendship, and outdoor wellbeing activities. We understand the therapeutic benefits of working with horticulture, nature and animals or simply just being outdoors walking, kayaking, learning rural craft skills or just sitting around the fire drinking tea. We do all this and more – and our activities are open to anyone who has served in the Armed Forces, is still serving or who has a spousal connection. We also have unique ‘women only veterans’ projects too.

Established in 2010, Walking With The Wounded ‘WWTW’ is a leading military charity which recognises that those who served, deserve.

Whether mentally wounded, socially wounded or physically wounded, they deserve the care, support and means they and their families need to function in society, serving in the communities in which they live, reigniting their sense of purpose and making a positive contribution again.

Walking With The Wounded gets those who’ve served – and their families – back on their feet. We do three things: employment, mental health and care coordination which are saving jobs, homes, relationships and lives for the veterans who are struggling since leaving the military.

Our innovative partnerships with the NHS England wide OP Courage service , and Head Start , own mental health programme enabling 121 therapy within days, are delivering significant, positive, social impacts across the UK.

We have Integrated Regional Services in the North East, North West , East of England and in the South East.

Waterloo Uncovered (WU) is a ground-breaking charity which uses a world class archaeological project exploring the Waterloo Battlefield in Belgium to support veterans and serving personnel in their recovery and health, wellbeing, transition, education and employment. The aims of the charity, as set out in the articles, are to assist veterans and serving personnel by any means possible, to give veterans
the opportunity to participate in the archaeological study of sites of military interest, to provide education and vocational skills training to the public generally, and veterans specially, and to advance the education of the public through archaeology.

Waterloo Uncovered runs a nine-month Veteran Support Programme, aimed at giving veterans (and
serving personnel) from all corners of the United Kingdom and all parts of the Armed Forces a
comprehensive experience of Battlefield Archaeology. This experience brings numerous benefits, both in
supporting the recovery from physical and mental injuries, and in providing the opportunity to explore
archaeology as a possible professional, academic or casual interest in civilian life. The programme is supported throughout by archaeologists, and by professionals and enthusiasts from related disciplines, as well as by a team of Wellbeing professionals who are on hand to ensure that the programme is of maximum value to each participant.

Amongst a range of opportunities, support comes in the form of specialist one-to-one sessions, peer-support groups, access/referral to prescribing services, and pathways to other veteran services.

Support for veterans with substance or alcohol misuse problems is available at any We Are With You service.
