AFF achieves housing success on behalf of Army families

The Army Families Federation (AFF) is celebrating a success for those living in Service Family Accommodation (SFA) who have recently faced unfair increases to their accommodation charge.

Many families contacted AFF to say their rental charge or final charge had unexpectedly increased by an unreasonable amount without proper notice and without a chance to appeal.

AFF seeks support from transitioning families

AFF is researching the challenges that Armed Forces families may experience when transitioning to civilian life, as well as the support available to them, so we can identify any gaps.

We would like to follow families through the transition process to gain a better understanding of the practical and emotional aspirations and challenges that surround transition, to give us a much broader understanding of the needs and wants of transitioning families.

AFF Research Symposium: secure your place

The Army Families Federation (AFF) is to host a Research Symposium on Monday 5 June, following the success of their first symposium back in 2015.

The event, a collaboration between academics, subject matter experts, AFF and the MOD, will focus on the issues Army families face with the aim of further research being developed and a better understanding of this cohort.

AFF celebrates 35 years of support for Army families

This year, military charity the Army Families Federation (AFF) is celebrating 35 years of support for Army families.

Since its inception as the Federation of Army Wives Clubs back in 1982, AFF has evolved into a worldwide charity, working on behalf of all Army families – Regular and Reserve, wherever they are based, whatever their family make-up.

Latest AFF roadshow a Scottish success     

Families were out in force for the Army Families Federation (AFF) Scotland roadshow on 23 March, with people travelling from as far as Glasgow and Penicuik.

Stands from Donna McCartney, Parent Support Officer Scotland, Barry Nichols, Armed Services Advice Project and Kinloss HIVE proved popular, as did the AFF specialists who spoke with numerous families to discuss their issues and concerns. In particular, the AFF Foreign & Commonwealth Specialist Katherine Houlston drew soldiers from Inverness to access her expert knowledge.

AFF explores families’ experience of Scottish posting

The Army Families Federation (AFF) has published the results of their most recent survey, which focussed specifically on families posted to Scotland.

The feedback they’ve received from Army families in Scotland has helped the charity to learn more about Army family life there, and will be used to help shape their upcoming Scotland roadshow in Kinloss on 23 March.
