Cobseo Housing Cluster wins the FiMT Working Together Award at the Soldier on Awards

The Cobseo Housing Cluster received the Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) Working Together Award at the Soldiering on Awards on Friday 20th April, at a special ceremony at Westminster Bridge Park Plaza.

The Cluster is a combination of 30 veterans’ housing organizations and charities formed to provide veteran specific housing and create an integrated veterans’ housing sector, with clear pathways for ex-Service personnel and their families in housing need to move into permanent homes.

Each year the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity distributes thousands of pounds across naval ships and establishments, ensuring top-quality facilities for Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families.

The principal charity of the Royal Navy, the RNRMC, helps the entire naval fleet, be they officers, other ranks or specialisations. The charity is there from day one and every day after, delivering everything from life changing grants during times of need to smaller operational grants that aide morale and retention whilst at sea.

New Manor Camp Centre to provide quality facilities for families of Royal Marines

A grant of over £30,000 has been awarded for the Royal Marines Families and Welfare Centre in Taunton by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

The grant, which has been distributed by the national charity of the Royal Navy, will enable the centre to complete the interior with comfortable furnishings and equipment.

Set to be officially opened later this year, the Norton Manor Camp Families Centre will provide a high quality facility for the Royal Marines service families within the Taunton area.

Memory of WWI hero ‘Boy Cornwell’ honoured with 1000 mile cycle

Serving members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines will undertake an arduous 1,000 mile cycle to honour the memory of Jack ‘Boy’ Cornwell, who died at 16 years-old during the Battle of Jutland.

A group of nine sailors and marines will set off on the VC 1000 Mile Challenge from HMS Vivid on Saturday 12th May and will complete their journey at HMS Raleigh on the 24th May.

The challenging 1,000 mile route will honour the memory of the WWI naval hero Jack ‘Boy’ Cornwell, while raising money for three British charities.

ANZACs and Gallipoli remembered at touching service

In a touching show of comradeship and remembrance today, representatives from all sides came together to attend the annual ANZAC and Gallipoli Day Service at the Scottish National War Memorial, at Edinburgh Castle, organised by Legion Scotland.

Observed on the 25th of April each year, ANZAC Day was originally devised to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War.

This year commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the most significant moments in British history – the end of World War One.

To mark the centenary, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity has launched a campaign which calls on the public to help keep the nation’s history alive by sharing their family stories and photos from The Great War.

Celebrities including Antony Cotton, Helen McCrory, Joanna Lumley, Dame Kelly Holmes, Fleur East and Dan Snow have come together to share their stories and photographs in support of the SSAFA campaign.

Last week Give Us Time was excited to attend the Soldiering On Awards at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in support of Chris Grech who was nominated for the International Award. Chris is the owner of the gorgeous Balkan Jewel Resort in Bulgaria and long-time donor and supporter of Give Us Time.

Though Chris didn’t go home with the award, we were delighted his commitment to the armed forces community was recognised and it was our privilege to spend the evening surrounded by amazing and inspiring individuals.

Charity receives Duke of York Community Initiative Award

HRH Prince Andrew The Duke of York visited Sheffield Cathedral today Tuesday 24th April 2018 to present his Community Initiative Awards to a variety of successful charities from all around Yorkshire.

South Yorkshire based Help 4 Homeless Veterans charity represented by its Founder Tom Wood and his wife Jean accompanied by the CEO Steve Bentham-Bates during the presentation ceremony received the Duke’s Award for their work supporting homeless Veterans in the County.
