132 Bereaved Armed Forces Families book up holiday breaks in 24 hours!

132 bereaved Forces families booked holiday breaks through Scotty’s Little Soldiers within 24 hours of the charity’s 2017 ‘Scotty Breaks’ going live.

Every year Scotty’s offers its beneficiaries at least one family break each. These breaks can take place at one of its six holiday homes around the UK, at Center Parcs, or at the theme park resorts of Legoland and Alton Towers.

New guidance issued to NHS England commissioners to strengthen patient and public participation

A new guidance document on patient and public participation in armed forces has been published. The new framework is part of a suite of documents developed to strengthen patient and public participation in all of NHS England’s direct commissioning activities.

The new participation framework for Armed Forces provides practical guidance on the best ways to involve patients and the public in different services.

Give Us Time – What we do

Give Us Time takes holidays donated by owners of holiday groups, hotels, holiday homes and timeshares, and matches them with military families in need of rest, rehabilitation and reconnection so that they can be able to re-bond as a family.

We help both veterans and service personnel from all the services. Eligible to our services are those who are physically or mentally injured, have spent long periods of time away from their families, bereaved or in financial need.

Research shows clear public concern over UK veterans’ care

New research from the Royal Air Forces Association shows that less than one in five (19%) adults think UK military veterans are well looked after.[1]

This figure does fluctuate across different age groups, but remains worryingly low throughout – it is lowest (9%) among respondents aged 65+, while people aged 25-34 had most confidence (32%) that veterans are well looked after.
