Yvonne Martin may be forgiven for feeling a sense of déjà vu when she moved into Royal Star & Garter in High Wycombe in 2023.

Residents living at Royal Star & Garter Homes have received a letter from its Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, as the charity celebrates its 110th anniversary. 

Janet, who served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service, was presented with the medal by her daughter and son, on 16 December at Royal Star & Garter in Solihull, where she now lives. 

Residents at the charity’s four Homes in Solihull, Surbiton, High Wycombe and Worthing have been enjoying a feast of festive events, visits, activities, outings and carol concerts with lots more still to come.

The Telephone Friendship Service (TFS) was launched by Royal Star & Garter in November 2022 to help veterans and their partners combat isolation.

Relatives of residents who have died in Royal Star & Garter Homes have praised the love and support they have received from the charity through its new bereavement project.
