The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge 2018: Tour De Troops and The Soldiers Run Pass

The Exciting Tour De Troops endurance event is back for 2018, after huge success in 2017. This charity event is the ultimate cycle ride, starting at Lands End and finishing at John O’Groats during a challenging five days. That event is followed by a second one, the Soldiers Run Pass in July. Together they make up the Captain James Wadsworth Challenge 2018.

Both events are open to military staff and civilians alike and are ideal for those looking for a mental and physical challenge which also encourages teamwork and esprit-de-corps between military personnel and civilians.

Spectacular Battle Proms Picnic Concert Joins Forces with SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity

Military themed spectacle raising money for personnel, veterans and their families

Tickets are now on sale for the Battle Proms, a spectacular series of open-air picnic concerts in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity working with personnel, veterans and their families.

Battle Proms is a summer celebration with live orchestral music, carefully choreographed Spitfire and parachute displays, dramatic cannon fire and cavalry displays with a spectacular musical firework finale. The annual spectacular is set to return to historical British venues this summer, due to popular demand.

Abseil for Veterans

South-West based charity Alabaré are hosting a charity abseil down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on Sunday 25th March. 45 participants will abseil 100 metres down the side of the tower whilst raising funds for Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans.

The service provides supported accommodation to British Armed Forces Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Military charity invites residents to Artisan Craft Fair at Chateau Rhianfa

A military charity is inviting locals to attend an Artisan Craft Fair at Chateau Rhianfa.

Local artisans will be joining Blind Veterans UK, the charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, to exhibit a selection of unique crafts and products from around North Wales. The event will take place on both March 3 and March 4, from 11am to 4pm.

Top UK Fundraiser join forces with the national charity of the Royal Navy

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is delighted to announce the arrival of one of Britain’s top fundraisers, Chief Petty Officer Andy Gibbs.

A fundraiser for almost ten years, Andy ‘Gibbo’ Gibbs, has raised over £525,000 for the Armed Forces community. He has now joined up with the RNRMC to use his fundraising experience to help raise money for sailors, marines, veterans and their families.

Originally brought up in Oxfordshire, CPO Gibbs joined the Royal Navy in 1987 and has been in the service for over thirty years.

Bestselling crime and thriller writer helps raise £3,000 for local charity

International bestselling crime and thriller writer, Peter James, famous for the Brighton-based Roy Grace series, held a special ‘evening with’ in aid of Sussex charity, Care for Veterans, and helped to raise £3,000.

Mr James, author of 12 consecutive Sunday Times no.1s whose books have sold 19 million copies worldwide, took to the stage for almost an hour. He discussed his incredible career and shared fascinating, and often hilarious, stories and insights. He then answered questions from the audience, and signed books for waiting fans.

Trainee teacher from Cornwall to run London Marathon for military charity that supports her grandfather

A woman from Cornwall is currently training to compete in this year’s London Marathon for Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.

Rebecca Hare, 22 and from Newquay, maintains that the iconic 26.2 mile course has long been on her bucket list. She explains: “Every year I see the London Marathon on TV and every year I say, ‘I’d love to do that!’.
