Richard Woodhouse, along with his wife Dawn, is the founder of ‘Holidays for Heroes Jersey’, a charity providing free holidays to injured armed forces personnel and their families.

Rowland Edwards, 93 and from Stafford, will be formally presented with the prestigious honour by Monsieur Jean-Claude Lafontaine from the French Consulate in a special ceremony at the National Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire. The ceremony, which was organised by military charity Blind Veterans UK, will be attended by Rowland’s family as well as representatives from the charity.

As a Staff Officer, he has held posts on the British Army Staff in Washington, the Directorate of Army Aviation, the UN Protection Force in Sarajevo and the Chiefs of Staff Secretariat in the MOD. He commanded C Flight AAC in Brunei, 656 Squadron AAC in the UK and 1 Regiment AAC in Germany and the Balkans.
