Durham charity given funding boost to support North East Veterans

A charity working with wounded, sick and injured veterans enabling them to move from social exclusion to sustained employment has received a major funding boost.

The Durham based charity, Finchale, has received a much-needed grant of £103,000 from Help for Heroes, a charity which is all about giving the very best support for life to the wounded veterans, servicemen and women and their families whose lives are changed by their injuries and illness.

Forces Media Academy – Last call for applications

The closing date for applications to the Forces Media Academy’s unique media course is this Friday 31st March.

The free Higher National Certificate (HNC) Media Production Course is open to service leavers and veterans, and all students on the one-year course also receive a bursary of £18k.

Students learn alongside industry experts and will be taught core modules such as Camera and Lighting Skills, and Film and Video Editing. Specialist modules include Production of Multi-Media Programmes and Advertising Campaigns.

Fully funded training at Finchale for the unemployed

Funded training is to be provided to unemployed people across County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland to give them a better chance of finding a job.

Health, training and work experts, Finchale, an independent charity based in Durham, is to deliver RTITB Forklift Truck training in partnership with Gateshead College. Through funding from the European Social Fund matched by the Skills Funding Agency, we are able to offer training at no cost to individuals who wish to retrain in order to gain employment.
