Location: Castaway House, 311 Twyford Avenue, Stamshaw, Portsmouth PO2 8RN
Status: Full time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 depending on experience

Job Purpose:

We are looking for an experienced caseworker to join our small but dedicated team.   You will be part of a team of three caseworkers who are responsible for assessing children’s referrals, identifying the support needed, presenting cases and making recommendations to the Welfare committee and providing advice and signposting.  Caseworkers work closely with other charities and organisations including caseworkers with SSAFA, RNRM Welfare Teams, RBL and grant administrators from other organisations such as the RNBT.  Primarily working from the office in Portsmouth the job entails home visits to families and presentations to other organisations.  Grants awarded range from an Emergency Essential Support Scheme Grant of a few pounds to thousands of pounds for equipment and specialist services.

A Royal Navy/Royal Marines background is desirable but not essential.  A full driving licence is a necessity as the job involves travel to home visits.  Other essential skills include IT and computer skills, report writing, record keeping and caseworkers should be empathetic and non-judgemental with a professional approach.  A good knowledge of benefits, counselling and other support skills desirable.  Further training is provided as part of the role.  The job requires a flexible approach and a strong commitment to working as part of a small team.  This role is subject to (Disclosure and Barring) DBS checking.  Interviews and references are part of the recruitment process.   Full job description here.
