PTSD Resolution provides free, prompt and effective mental health therapy for UK Armed Forces veterans, reservists and their families suffering from post-traumatic stress and related mental health conditions.

Founded in 2009, the charity has helped over 4,500 clients through a nationwide network of 200 qualified Human Givens therapists. Treatment typically resolves issues in an average of seven sessions at a cost of £940 per client, funded entirely through donations.

PTSD Resolution is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists to the Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services and operates with minimal overhead – 93% of donations go directly to charitable objectives.

The charity works collaboratively with partner organisations across the veterans’ sector, with 60% of clients referred through partnerships and professional networks.

An integral part of its work is research using real world evidence to constantly improve the quality of therapy delivered by the therapist network. Results are reported in peer reviewed and published papers which demonstrate a high level of efficacy and acceptability of the service.

Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Treatment uses Human Givens Therapy, a non-invasive approach delivered through one-to-one sessions either face-to-face locally or online. This compassionate method doesn’t require clients to relive traumatic experiences, with both client and therapist agreeing when treatment is complete.

The charity uniquely supports those other services often exclude – veterans in prison (across 35 institutions), those with addiction issues, and clients with complex diagnoses. Almost half of those who call decide to have therapy with appointments available within 14 days.

PTSD Resolution’s FAITH programme specifically supports family members affected by military trauma, recognising that 17% of clients are relatives of veterans.

The charity also provides trauma awareness training for partners as well as delivering Trauma Awareness Training for Employers (TATE), helping organisations recognise and support staff experiencing trauma symptoms.

The Trustees meet the object of the Trust by making grants to any charitable institutions or organisations whose objects include the reception, accommodation, treatment or after-care of people who come within the Trust’s object as set out above. The Trustees may also make grants in aid of medical or surgical research into the needs of injured and disabled persons who served in the Armed Forces.

Mindful of the ever-changing landscape within the serving and ex-service community, and the evolving needs of beneficiaries, the Trustees review the grant-giving policy on an annual basis.

Applications are on an invitation basis only.

REACT Disaster Response is a humanitarian rapid-response charity operating in the UK and overseas. We train and deploy volunteer Response Teams to emergencies and disasters to help save lives and alleviate suffering, particularly for hard-to-reach and vulnerable communities in the immediate aftermath of crises.

REACT is closely aligned to the Armed Forces community. Our volunteers are predominantly military veterans, alongside serving personnel, blue light professionals and other skilled individuals. We repurpose military experience in leadership, planning, logistics and problem-solving to provide practical surge capability in complex, fast-moving emergencies. Through deployments and training, we also offer veterans and service leavers a continued sense of purpose, structured teamwork and an opportunity to apply their skills in service of communities during times of greatest need.

REACT’s support and expertise is highly relevant to the Armed Forces community and to multi-agency emergency response. We mobilise trained volunteers (predominantly military veterans, alongside blue light professionals and other skilled individuals) to bring disciplined planning, leadership, logistics and “can-do” problem-solving into fast-moving, high-pressure environments. We work in support of statutory responders and humanitarian partners, helping to close critical gaps quickly and effectively.

Support and expertise include:

• Shared situational awareness & rapid needs assessment – gathering and analysing information quickly to build a clear on-the-ground picture and inform priorities.
• Incident management & coordination support – practical support to planning, liaison and multi-agency coordination, strengthening response capacity where teams are stretched.
• Last-mile logistics – rapid, flexible logistics to move people, equipment and relief items into hard-to-reach locations when time and access are constrained.
• Surge and specialist operational capability – short-notice deployments to augment local responders and partners, including specialist capabilities such as flood response.
• Volunteer management support – helping partners organise, task and safely coordinate volunteers during emergencies, including spontaneous volunteer groups.
• Training, capacity and resilience-building – training and preparedness support that strengthens community and organisational resilience, while enabling veterans to maintain skills, purpose and team identity through meaningful service.
