Injured ex-Service personnel should not face benefit sanctions, report finds

Ex-Service personnel with service-related physical or mental health injuries should not have benefit sanctions imposed by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), say researchers of a Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) funded report titled “Sanctions, support and Service leavers: welfare conditionality and transitions from military to civilian life” released today, Thursday 19th April.

The report, by the University of Salford and the University of York, is the first major study investigating the experiences of ex-Service personnel and the benefits system.

X-Forces Enterprises celebrates a successful 2017 Naval Families Enterprise Project Initial Cohort and launches A Second Programme in Plymouth

London, April 13, 2018: X-Forces Enterprises (XFE), together with Greenwich Hospital, A Crown Royal Navy Charity, met with the 2017 cohort from the Naval Families Enterprise Project in Portsmouth on Thursday 12 April 2018.

The event, which was held in the stunning surroundings of the Portsmouth Room at the Portsmouth Guildhall, was sponsored by Kilfrost Ltd and hosted by Solent LEP. It was a reunion for the sixteen members of the 2017 cohort and celebrated their success. It was also the launch-pad for the second programme which will start in September 2018.

Military family accommodation to change name from Orchard House to Norton House, Stanford Hall

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity has announced that a brand-new home from home, to be opened in September 2018, will be re-named Norton House, Stanford Hall. The accommodation in Stanford on Soar, formerly known as Orchard House, will allow families visiting injured and recovering military personnel to stay comfortably and conveniently whilst supporting their relatives during the rehabilitation process.
