The animation features the stories of two children showing what life is like living in a military family which looks to help dispel the myths of military adoption.
These myths include concerns around the lack of stability due to regular postings or deployment, military families may be over disciplined or lack the structure of a 9-5 working parent.

Read moreCongratulations to our ‘Recruit for Spouses’ (RfS) representative north of the border in Helensburgh, Lisa Grieveson, who was recognised with a special award at the 2017 Resolution Dinner – the submarine ‘Oscars’ – last night, Thursday 5th October. An inaugural awards event hosted by Rear Admiral Submarines on board HMS Neptune, the all-ranks dinner celebrated outstanding performances, both team and individual, in a range of Service categories.
Lisa’s accolade, the Recognition Award, sponsored by the Navy Families Federation (NFF), exists to honour inspiring individuals who have gone above and beyond in support of the Naval community.

Ten years on from the publication in 2007 of ‘Supporting Seafarers and their Families: Challenges for the Future’, a new report, ‘Navigating Change – A Review of the UK Maritime Welfare Charity Sector’ is being released at a major conference in London on 16-17 October.
Despite its huge scope, from small fishing vessels to large container ships, naval vessels and superyachts, the maritime welfare sector is one of the few industries to attempt to research and define the needs of its communities in order to better allocate charitable resources.

Read moreOn Friday 20th October a spicy fundraiser will be taking place from 12 noon at Durham based charity Finchale’s headquarters in Pity Me, to raise money for soldiers and veterans in need of assistance across the region.
For the second year running organisers from Finchale are extending a ‘hot’ invitation to diners to join them for a bit of fun and a relaxed opportunity to enjoy some fantastic food whilst making a difference. All proceeds from the event will go to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the National Charity of the British Army providing support to soldiers, veterans and their families.
