Former Lieutenant Commander speaks passionately about DMWS support

Dr Matthew Kiernan, a former Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander, is passionate about helping ex-servicemen and women. He was medically retired on health grounds and is now an Associate Professor Mental Health and Veterans Studies, and leads the Northern Hub for Military Veterans and Families’ Research at Northumbria University in Newcastle. In his current role he is developing a Map of Need and an app that will make it easier for veterans to find information about the health and social care services available to them. Paul Gaffney, CEO of the Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) met with Matthew at the charity’s headquarter yesterday, to discuss current veteran and military family research projects.

Deborah Meaden and The Ministry of Defence support the Heropreneurs Awards

Heropreneurs is delighted to announce that Deborah Meaden, the serial entrepreneur and investor, who stars in the highly successful TV series ‘Dragons Den’, has agreed to be a Judge on the Heropreneurs Awards.

Heropreneurs is also honoured that The Rt. Hon. Tobias Ellwood MP, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence, who will be presenting the top award of Heropreneur of the Year, will also be attending the Awards Ceremony on 14 November 2018 at the Plaisterers’ Hall in the City of London.

Grant from Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity helps Housing Options Scotland to deliver to the serving Naval community

A grant from the RNRMC and it’s partner The Greenwich Hospital is being used to support the work of HOS through the successful Military Matters project. Housing advice and information was provided by HOS’s Engagement Manager, Fraser Gilmore, through briefing sessions organised last month at both HM Naval Base Clyde and Rosyth Dockyard. These sessions meant personnel and their families had the opportunity to learn more about their civilian housing options and ask questions about the Scottish housing market.

Working in cyber security for the commercial sector is more independent and less hierarchical, compared to the Armed Forces.

X-Forces Enterprise celebrates a successful 2017 Naval Families Enterprise Project Initial Cohort and launches A Second Programme in Plymouth

X-Forces Enterprise (XFE), together with Greenwich Hospital, A Crown Royal Navy Charity, met with the 2017 cohort from the Naval Families Enterprise Project in Portsmouth on Thursday 12 April 2018.

The event, which was held in the stunning surroundings of the Portsmouth Room at the Portsmouth Guildhall, was sponsored by Kilfrost Ltd and hosted by Solent LEP. It was a reunion for the sixteen members of the 2017 cohort and celebrated their success. It was also the launch-pad for the second programme which will start in September 2018.
