Read moreBarry Furness, of Fareham, Hampshire, has been awarded a British Empire Medal in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours awards in recognition of his work for the Royal Air Forces Association –the charity that provides welfare support to the RAF family.
Nick Bunting, Secretary General of the Association said, “Since 1974, Barry has worked ceaselessly to promote the aims of the Royal Air Forces Association and in doing so has reached a huge variety of people. His remarkable drive, infectious enthusiasm and strong leadership, in posts from the bottom to the top of the Association, have inspired those he has reached and greatly strengthened support for the Association, locally and nationally and abroad.”
Read moreStoll, the leading provider of supported housing for Veterans in the greatest need, has received £12,000 from the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund to help promote independent living for ex-RAF servicemen and women. Alongside the housing Stoll provides, the charity offers a unique combination of health, wellbeing and employment support to vulnerable and disabled ex-Servicemen and women to help them live as independently as possible. Stoll will use the funding to support elderly and disabled Veterans and their dependents, enabling them to remain in the comfort of their own home. This includes providing domestic support such as helping with washing and cleaning.

Read more26 June 2017 – A team of soldiers from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (SCOTS DG) have signed up for a gruelling Total Warrior challenge to raise funds for Scotland’s Armed Forces Children’s Charity.
The 11 strong team are hoping to raise over £2,500 by putting themselves through 10 km of 30 punishing challenges, including: crawling under barbed wire through 50 metres of mud; wading through iced water; rope climbs; jumping over flaming logs, and negotiating their way through hundreds of electrical currents in order to cross the finish line.

Veterans Scotland is delighted to announce that it is to receive a total of £75,000 from the Forces in Mind Trust, over the next three years, in order to engage with decision makers in statutory and third sector organisations across Scotland and inform them about those preparing to leave the Armed Forces and the ex-Service community and to encourage them to ensure that they are equipped to meet their obligations to the Armed Forces Covenant.
