Read moreKate Tripp is running for the OA in the OA Inter-Services Triathlon at the end of July. We interviewed her to find out more.
This year the triathlon is organised by the RAF Triathlon Association and sponsored by the OA. The Army, Navy and RAF will compete at the annual event, in individual and team categories, including Male, Female and Veteran. In addition to the Armed Forces, the emergency services, the OA and guest teams will participate. The OA will have a relay team, with a different person completing each discipline.

It was a moving and humbling experience, bringing back memories from May 1983 for this particular individual! It was a privilege to share the obvious pride and joy being shown by so many Mums, Dads, friends and families as their sons and daughters began their careers in the RAF. Residents were delighted to welcome the Training Staff, Aircraftmen and Women currently stationed at RAF Halton to share an afternoon participating in various activities. After a tour of the Home, they joined in with Tai Chi, followed by a piano led sing-along.
Read more4 July 2017 – The RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, has partnered with Cruse to provide a new bereavement service for those coping with a death.
Launched this month, the confidential service provides RAF veterans, those who are serving, and family members, with free telephone, face-to-face and email support.
Many of the RAF Benevolent Fund’s beneficiaries have placed bereavement as one of the top ten difficulties they have experienced, while for beneficiaries over the age of 65, bereavement was reported within the top five difficulties.

Read moreLast weekend former Welsh Guardsman and Iraq veteran Allan Roberts took part in the Welsh 2 Day Enduro, a 250-mile off-road dirt-biking race in North Wales, the biggest event of its kind in the UK.
Allan is also a double amputee and before the race said: “This is a tough challenge for me. As you can imagine, racing a motorbike off-road with no legs is interesting!” Not only did he complete the event, Allan managed to come 55th out of the 118 competitors – a truly amazing achievement!
