Walking the first 1000 miles

Cobseo members have been previously advised that to mark both her recent retirement from the Royal Naval Reserve and the 2017 Centenary year of women’s service in the Royal Navy, Commander Jane Allen is undertaking a solo 5,500-mile charity walk around the coast of mainland Britain.

Starting and finishing at HMS Victory in Portsmouth, Jane’s walk aims to raise funds and awareness for two important Naval Charities – WRNS BT and RNRMC.

New Manor Camp Centre to provide quality facilities for families of Royal Marines

A grant of over £30,000 has been awarded for the Royal Marines Families and Welfare Centre in Taunton by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

The grant, which has been distributed by the national charity of the Royal Navy, will enable the centre to complete the interior with comfortable furnishings and equipment.

Set to be officially opened later this year, the Norton Manor Camp Families Centre will provide a high quality facility for the Royal Marines service families within the Taunton area.

RNRMC continue to support Scotland’s naval veteran community

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has confirmed that it will award military care home provider, Erskine Homes, a grant of £40,000 to ensure the continued care and support of naval veterans.

As an established provider of care, Erskine looks after around 800 elderly and disabled ex-Service men and women, their spouses and widows/widowers each year. They offer long term residential and respite nursing, dementia and palliative care to its occupants.

Lord Mayor and Lord-Lieutenant of Bristol welcomed on board HMS Bristol

The Lord Major and Lord-Lieutenant of Bristol were special guests of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) at HMS Excellent last week.

The Right Honourable Councillor Lesley Jones and Mrs Peaches Golding OBE were given a tour of the RNRMC’s offices before being welcomed on board their city’s namesake HMS Bristol by Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander David Price.

Signed Tees-Wear Derby shirts to be auctioned for national naval charity

Sunderland AFC have teamed up with the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) to raise funds to help support sailors, marines and their families.

The club have generously donated 21 signed match day shirts from their local derby against rivals Middlesbrough in November. The shirts will be auctioned through the RNRMC’s website and the auction is live now on www.rnrmc.org.uk/SunderlandAuction

Donated to the RNRMC to mark November’s Remembrance weekend, the shirt worn during the match is the team’s away strip and is grey with a gold trim featuring a special Remembrance Day Poppy Insignia.

Veteran bagpiper is on top of the world after reaching Everest Basecamp

A globe-trotting fundraiser has completed her biggest challenge after climbing the infamous Mount Everest.

Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) fundraiser, Irene Robinson, began her ascent up Mount Everest in early February and took 8 days to reach base camp.

Ms Robinson, from Poole in Dorset, had to face bitter temperatures of -14 degrees while battling the tough altitude on Everest.

Top UK Fundraiser join forces with the national charity of the Royal Navy

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is delighted to announce the arrival of one of Britain’s top fundraisers, Chief Petty Officer Andy Gibbs.

A fundraiser for almost ten years, Andy ‘Gibbo’ Gibbs, has raised over £525,000 for the Armed Forces community. He has now joined up with the RNRMC to use his fundraising experience to help raise money for sailors, marines, veterans and their families.

Originally brought up in Oxfordshire, CPO Gibbs joined the Royal Navy in 1987 and has been in the service for over thirty years.

Forward-looking initiative is offering affordable Wills for South Coast Residents

A national charity has joined forces with a number of local south coast solicitors for an initiative that offers affordable Will creation in exchange for charitable donations.

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) ‘Make a Will Fortnight’ project sees solicitors firms across Portsmouth, Plymouth and the Isle of Wight waive their fees on standard Wills. In exchange, those who require the creation of a Will are instead encouraged to make a charitable donation to the RNRMC.

‘Make a Will Fortnight’ will commence on February 12th and will run until February 25th. Due to high demand, potential clients are encouraged to enquire as soon as possible.
