The OA to Sponsor Women’s Royal Navy Cricket Club

The OA will work with the Royal Navy Cricket Club (RNCC) to support the development and promotion of cricket across the Naval Service and specifically women’s cricket, in the form of a three year sponsorship agreement.

Sponsorship from the OA will be used to purchase RNCC Women’s Team clothing and equipment, supporting RNCC and UKAFCA cricket events and assisting in the development of women’s cricket across the service through professional coaching.

British Forces TV promotes OA Virtual Careers Fair

The OA welcomed British Forces TV to our London office to speak to Head of Employment, Liz Stevens, about the Virtual Careers Fair which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.

The ‘Ex-Military in Management’ Careers Fair, organised by the OA and SaluteMyJob, was aimed at serving and former Service Personnel wanting management roles in the commercial or third sectors. Over 300 people took part, and more than 100 CVs were shared with employers and recruiters.

OA to Participate in National Armed Forces Day 2017

The OA is delighted to be exhibiting at the Armed Forces Day national event in Liverpool, on Saturday 24 June. The annual event celebrates the work and dedication of British Service personnel and their dependants.

The OA stand will highlight the services we offer to serving and former officers and their dependants and will give those attending the parade, an opportunity to meet with OA staff and volunteers.

Blind veteran from Lancashire to take on fastest zip line in the world for his 90th birthday

A blind veteran from Chorley, Lancashire is planning on celebrating his 90th birthday by traveling down Zip World Velocity in Bethesda, North-West Wales, the fastest zip line in the world, and the longest in Europe.

Bob Hill, who turned 90 in May, will be raising money for Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, by flying down the world famous wire, on which pervious participants have been known to travel as fast as 100mph.

The Ripple Pond Receives Armed Forces Covenant Funding

Aldershot, Hampshire: The Ripple Pond is thrilled to announce the release of funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund. This will be used to highlight, support and engage with local Hampshire military families.

The Ripple Pond is a self-help support network for adult family members and friends of the physically or emotionally injured Service Personnel and Veterans. Through group meetings, a buddy system and a secret forum we provide a non-judgmental and confidential outlet to meet others coping with similar experiences. We are finding that caring for loved ones leaves many vulnerable to potential secondary trauma themselves – anxiety, stress, loneliness…
