Charity Commission publishes new safeguarding strategy and says safeguarding goes beyond protecting at risk groups

Trustees should take steps to ensure no one who comes into contact with their charity suffers distress or harm, as well as safeguarding children and adults at risk, says regulator of charities.

The Charity Commission’s new safeguarding strategy says that safeguarding is a key governance priority for all charities, not just those working with groups traditionally considered at risk.

The Charity Commission will be working with charities to promote fraud prevention and help them develop anti-fraud cultures.

One of the most damaging types of fraud is insider fraud. This is fraud committed by someone involved with the charity, whether a trustee, an employee or volunteer.

You must send an annual return (or update your details) every year if your charity is registered in England or Wales.

your charity’s online services password, you can request a new password if needed
your registered charity number
registration numbers for any linked charities (if applicable)
