Keynote speakers will discuss the transition process, the importance of self reflection and how to secure work opportunities.

Fantastic news! Huge thanks to the Royal British Legion. Just received, significant funding support to help towards our charity’s operational costs for another year. (Those expenses that are vital for a charity to operate but understandably can be more difficult to raise). This will allow us that extra breathing space to focus on what we do best: offering support to that small number of service leavers and veterans (and their partners/spouses) who may find transition somewhat challenging.

European Golf champion shows his support for the RNRMC

Talented European Tour Golfer, Chris Hanson, has become the latest supporter of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

A pro-golfer of over ten years, Chris Hanson is a four-time Europro Tour champion and has had 3 top 10 finishes on the European Tour.

Chris became aware of the unique sacrifices that those in the Naval Service make when he met his caddy and friend, former Royal Marine, Steve Tooby.

RNRMC Families’ Days: Bringing Naval communities together

As the national charity of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, the RNRMC understands that while one person joins, it’s the whole family that serves. It is imperative that the families of those in the Naval Service are offered the support they need throughout life.

With Royal Navy sailors away on deployments of up to nine months at a time, the families left at home can often be effected by social isolation and a sense detachment. Families’ Days are therefore vitally important to the Naval Community, as the loved ones of those serving are given the opportunity to socialise and bond with other members of the naval community.

Trekking the Highland Way for the RNRMC’s Twickenham 100

A group of 11 Royal Navy sailors from HMNB Clyde completed a gruelling 100 mile walk along the Highland Way, raising over £1,000 for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

Setting out from Milngavie, just north of Glasgow, the MTE team from HMNB Clyde began their trek on Monday 19th March with the aim of completing the challenge by the Friday.

The West Highland Way passes across some of Scotland’s most beautiful yet challenging landscapes. To undertake the trek, it is advised that only experienced, physically fit and fully prepared walkers take on the route.

Ulster University study first ever to look at public attitudes towards the UK Armed Forces

Attitudes of the people of Northern Ireland towards current and former UK Armed Forces personnel have been revealed for the first time in a report released this week, titled ‘Public Attitudes to the UK Armed Forces in Northern Ireland’.

The Forces in Mind Trust funded an additional set of questions in the Northern Ireland Life and Times survey (NILT) and results were collated in a report produced by researchers from Ulster University.

42% of the NI population reporting a high/very high opinion of the UK Armed Forces today versus 12% having a low/very low opinion.

Help for Heroes delivers UK Team for Warrior Games

Congratulations to the 40 Veterans and Service Personnel who proudly served their country again in the Warrior Games, a major international sports event.

The team was trained and selected by Help for Heroes to represent the UK at the 2018 Warrior Games from 1 – 9 June in Colorado Springs and they took part in nine adaptive sports: Athletics, Archery, Cycling, Indoor Rowing, Sitting Volleyball, Shooting, Swimming, Powerlifting and Wheelchair Basketball.

Competitor Ian Primmer served in the Royal Logistic Corps and suffers from PTSD and hip pain. Ian, who competed in cycling, swimming, and shooting.

Your veterans need you! Legion Scotland calls for volunteers

Scotland’s largest membership charity for veterans is on the lookout for volunteers to help tackle isolation and loneliness among the Armed Forces community.

Legion Scotland’s recruitment drive for its Veterans Community Support Service, which was launched last year, is asking people to spare a few hours in order to improve support for veterans and their families in the community.

Kevin Gray MM, Chief Executive Officer of Legion Scotland, said: “We have experienced a huge increase in demand for our unique service since it was launched in July 2017.

Brigadier Gareth Collett CBE Closes Tour de Troops 2018

Brigadier Gareth Collett CBE closed Tour de Troops 2018 on 12 June 2018 by celebrating the gruelling five-day cycling challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats, at Edinburgh Castle with the participants.

The challenge saw 15 civilian and military cyclists cover 874 miles in just five day which raised money for Felix Fund, the charity supporting the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community.

Brigadier Gareth Collett is the Senior Explosive Ordnance Engineer in the UK MOD and has been a high threat bomb disposal operator for 25 years, conducting bomb disposal duties across Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq, the Middle/Far East and East Africa.

HRH The Countess of Wessex opens new homes for Veterans in Aldershot

Thirty four brand new purpose-built homes open in Aldershot today to address the lack of housing for former members of the Armed Forces. Centenary Lodge on Evelyn Avenue will be home to a mixed community of Veterans of different ages, their partners and families. The new homes will be run by Stoll, the leading provider of housing and support for Veterans.

Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex, who is Stoll’s Patron will meet some of the residents and formally open the new building.
