Walking With The Wounded’s Stody House has been supporting local veterans in Manchester for one whole year…

In February 2017, Walking With The Wounded, in collaboration with Nacro and Mosscare Housing, officially opened Stody House in Manchester. The residence provides temporary accommodation to ex-servicemen and women who are in need of social, mental health and/or employment support.

Commenting on the launch last year, Gary Lamb, WWTW North West Operations Manager said: “By working in collaboration with Nacro and Mosscare Housing, we will be able to ensure that these men and women receive the most comprehensive and effective employment support and mental health care, while avoiding duplication of services.

Exclusive Apsley House Event Reveals Plans for Memorial Sculpture to mark 300 years of service

Arthur Charles Valerian Wellesley, 9th Duke of Wellington, welcomed a host of guests to his Apsley House residence on Tuesday 6th March, in aid of the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment Memorial Appeal.

The private drinks reception, held at ‘Number 1, London’, provided an exclusive unveiling of the memorial Maquette, created in honour of the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment’s 300 years of service to the Crown.

Legion support for ex-Submariner left brain damaged in road collision

The Royal British Legion has teamed up with the Navy to help improve the life of a former Submariner who was left badly brain damaged following a horrific road collision five years ago.

Paul Reynolds, 41, from Wavertree, Liverpool, was cycling to his naval base in Cumbria in February 2013 when he was struck by a milkman on his early morning round and left with catastrophic head injuries so severe that surgeons had to remove parts of his skull to save his life.

The accident has left Paul unable to walk or talk and he needs specialist round-the-clock care which he receives as an in-patient at St Cyril’s Rehabilitation Unit in Chester.

F4H – Leadership Forum – 6 March 2018

On Tuesday evening at The Cavalry and Guards Club in Piccadilly, F4H held its inaugural forum on leadership. Speakers included Roger Davis (Chairman F4H, Former Head of Barclays UK), General Sir Nick Parker (Former Commander in Chief, British Army Land Forces), Evelyn Bourke (Group CEO BUPA), and Anton Oliver (Former Captain of the All Blacks).

UK armed forces mental health care delivered in the primary healthcare setting 2013/14 to 2015/16 and AFCS awards for service attributable mental health 6 April 2005 to 31 March 2017

Statistics on UK armed forces personnel assessed with a mental disorder in primary health care and veterans with awards under the AFCS for service-attributable mental disorders.

This ad hoc statistical bulletin provides the number of UK armed forces personnel who were assessed and treated in primary health care for a mental disorder, looking to further understand how many of these were seen solely within primary health care and how many were referred to MOD Department of Community Mental health (DCMH) for specialist mental health treatment.

Tell me about your military career
I joined the Royal Navy as a warfare officer straight from university. I was lucky enough to spend several years doing what I joined up to do – frontline weather forecasting at sea as a hydrographic and meteorological specialist. Following an operations tour in Basra, I became a Principal Warfare Officer. I returned to my specialisation at the end of my career.
