The collaboration hopes to raise vital funds through sales of Smart Turnout’s popular Military Watch. For every Military Watch sold, Smart Turnout will be donating 15% of the sale to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, to allow them to continue to provide practical, financial and emotional support for both service men and women, veterans and their families.
With Smart Turnout’s founder, Philip Turner, being an ex-Scots Guard himself, the design is heavily influenced by the bold regimental colours found throughout the British Military.

The team, dubbed the ‘Fantastic Fifty’, included staff from Care for Veterans, family members of Care for Veterans’ residents, a serving soldier, and ex-Service personnel.
Tyron Crayford, who is a resident at Care for Veterans, also took part and was pushed around the course in his wheelchair by four of the Fantastic Fifty.

The round-robin between the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force will take place at Lord’s in London on Thursday 14 June with the gates opening at 9am and the first match starting an hour later with former Corporal Gam Gurung, who lost his arm while serving with the Royal Gurkha Rifles, doing the coin toss. Play is expected to last until around 7.15pm.

The challenge will take place this Wednesday, the anniversary of the 1944 Allied invasion of occupied France.

Peter Burbery, 82 and from Brighton, will take part in the challenge on 16 September with three other blind veterans supported by Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. All four blind veterans will make up a relay team, each undertaking six-hour sections to complete the 24 hour challenge alongside their sighted tandem pilots.

Mike Johnson, 55 and from Knotty Ash, will take part in the event alongside five other blind veterans supported by Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. The challenge will take place on 6 June, the anniversary of the 1944 Allied invasion of occupied France.
Mike says: “I feel very honoured to be taking part because while it’s a physical challenge, the event is really about keeping alive the memory of those brave men who lost their lives on the beaches of France.”
