The Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) is requesting Expressions of Interest for ‘The mental health needs of serving and ex-Service personnel: A review of the latest evidence and key stakeholder perspectives’.
FiMT wishes to commission a documented, systematic review of relevant high-quality literature on the current scientific environment and changes and gaps in evidence concerning the field of serving and ex-Service personnel’s (and their families’) mental health.

Read moreOn Saturday 18 November, the Worthing-based charity, Care for Veterans, held its second annual Glitter Ball at the Hilton Avisford Park Hotel in Arundel, and raised just under £14,000 for the disabled veterans who it cares for.
The 160 guests in attendance were welcomed with a drinks reception and were wowed by card tricks from magician, Harvey Woods. Then it was into the Grand Hall for dinner. Here, guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal, before everyone got on the dancefloor to dance the night away to the fantastic local band, The Alternatives!

The television presenter, archaeologist and author, best known for presenting series such as A History of Scotland, Vikings and Coast, will help the charity to raise awareness of its vital work supporting former servicemen and women with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Neil recently visited Hollybush House, the Combat Stress treatment centre in Ayr, to meet with veterans supported by the charity.
Read moreA blind veteran from Nottinghamshire has marched at the Cenotaph in London this Remembrance Sunday (12/11) with the charity Blind Veterans UK.
Andy Stowe, 61 and from Mansfield, was supported to do this by Specsavers stores including Crystal Peaks, which raised over £100. The money went towards sending blind veterans, including Andy, to march.
Andy marched with more than 100 other blind veterans supported by Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.
Read moreAs part of DMWS’s Aged Veteran Health and Wellbeing Project in Herefordshire and Nottinghamshire, we offer free dementia training courses, which are delivered by our project partner Alzheimer’s Society. The training is available for Nottinghamshire and Herefordshire residents who work with Armed Forces veterans, and families of Veterans aged 65 years or over. Once trained, the delegate will be able to utilise their new skills and knowledge to support people with dementia.
