Read moreTo celebrate its tenth birthday this month, Help for Heroes has launched ‘The Force for Good’ campaign, recognising the potential in the wounded, injured and sick veterans they support.
Help for Heroes aims to help increasing numbers of veterans find their purpose once again, after it was revealed that in 2016/17, on average seven members of the Armed Forces were medically discharged each day – more than 200 per month. New data obtained by Freedom of Information Act request shows the annual figure for the number of men and women medically discharged from the British Armed Forces increased by 99% between 2010/11 and 2016/17.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is celebrating National Adoption Week with an animation featuring success stories of its military adopters.
The animation features the stories of two children showing what life is like living in a military family which looks to help dispel the myths of military adoption.
These myths include concerns around the lack of stability due to regular postings or deployment, military families may be over disciplined or lack the structure of a 9-5 working parent.

The Prince was joined by Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon at a recent Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) awards ceremony. They gave 33 Gold Awards to employers that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support for the Armed Forces community. The recipients included Airbus, Combat Pest Control, Balfour Beatty, General Dynamics UK, Network Rail, the Metropolitan Police Service and Transport for London.

Read moreThe atmosphere was electric when over 350 guests gathered at the National Conference Centre, home of the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull for Troop Aid’s highest profile event of the year, the Annual Ball. A registered charity, Troop Aid’s patron is HRH The Prince of Wales.
All were greeted upon arrival by a guard of honour. From young Sea Cadets to current military personnel, from members of the Royal British Legion to a Chelsea Pensioner, the evening appealed to everyone who was keen to support the Midlands based charity that supports our injured service troops.

Following its nineteenth consecutive sell-out year, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has announced today it will donate £1M to UK-based charitable organisations this year, bringing the total donated by the military spectacle since 1950 to over £10M.
The 2017 donations will be split between seventeen major Arts or Armed Forces organisations and is the largest sum of money ever donated by the Tattoo to UK-based organisations in its history.
