RAF Association launches new gift to help parents feel closer to home

The Royal Air Forces Association is helping serving personnel feel more connected to home by launching the ‘Wings Doodle Box’.

The boxes will be given to all children who receive a Storybook Wings story from now until the end of 2018 and are being launched to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the hugely popular scheme. The boxes contain a pillow case, wash bag, welcome home banner and cards, all of which can be coloured in using the fabric pens provided. The box itself can also be coloured in to make it stand out in a parent or carer’s bedroom.

Well-being interventions help ex-Service personnel transitioning back into civilian life

Preventative interventions may have a positive effect on the well-being of ex-Service personnel who are having difficulties making the transition back into civilian life, a new Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) funded-study has revealed.

The systematic review of research literature led by Newcastle University, published in Plos One academic journal, shows the positive impact of well-being interventions such as journaling and relaxation techniques on the lives of ex-Service personnel and their families.

Cash In On Your Talent – Barclays Talent Day for Military Spouses

Barclays Bank has joined forces with us to organise a ‘Spouses and Partners Talent Day’ in Portsmouth on 12th July. The free event, to be held at the Commercial Road branch, will offer the opportunity to sign up for workshops and give an insight into careers, as well as a chance to network in an informal atmosphere. Members of the bank’s HR team will also be there to look for potential recruits – and there could be work placements on offer as well.
