Adam Potts, 27, was convinced to take part in the ultra-challenge by his climbing and hillwalking partners. He explains: “They signed up just last year and asked me if I’d consider joining them. In the end it was an easy decision. I love any kind of new challenge, plus it’s a fantastic cause!”

During this time he was deployed to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded many decorations, including a Queen’s Commendation for Bravery. Les’s service took its toll on him; he was involved in four separate explosions and in 2009 he was injured by an IED, causing him to lose the sight in one eye.
