Award-winning Welsh artist collaborates with blind veterans at local military charity

Award-winning Welsh artist, Luned Rhys Parri, has spent a week with Blind Veterans UK, a local charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.

As Artist-in-residence, Luned shared her knowledge and skills with the charity’s beneficiaries at its training and rehabilitation centre in Llandudno. The artwork created explored some of the veterans’ favourite pastimes, such as music and sport.

Nadia Wazera, Art & Craft Instructor at Blind Veterans UK, says: “The week captured the imagination of staff and veterans alike. The atmosphere was energetic and full of laughter.

Join military charity for a knit and natter

A local military charity is inviting Worcester residents to a morning of coffee, scrummy cake and chatter.

Blind Veterans UK, the charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, is inviting people to attend a coffee morning to find out more about the work it does in the community. The charity is also hoping to encourage guests to get involved as either a volunteer or as part of its Poppy Field Project.

Royal Gardens Visit For 51 Veterans

This week the NFA ran its regular visit to the gardens at Highgrove, the private residence of TRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.The group of 51 veterans, some of who had travelled considerable distances, were drawn from 10 different military groups, associations and charities ranging from the WRENS to Band of Brothers.

NFA Teams Up With The Jubilee Sailing Trust

Next year the NFA will be offering the opportunity for 12 invited beneficiaries to take part in The Lord Dannatt Round Britain Challenge. They will take part in the 10-day voyage from Edinburgh to Belfast and will team up with cadets from all the services. This tall ship challenge will also commemorate the First World War which led to the founding of the Association. Former head of the Army General The Lord Dannatt is both Patron of the event and President of The Not Forgotten Association.

Forces in Mind Trust sponsors Veterans’ Mental Health Conference 2018 – date for the diary

The Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) is delighted to be sole sponsor of the King’s Centre for Military Health Research’s (KCMHR) annual ‘Veterans’ Mental Health Conference 2018, as part of a three-year award spanning each of 2017 to 2019 worth £15,000 per year.

The event will take place on 15th March 2018 at King’s College London. FiMT is again running a concessionary rate scheme which offers a limited number of half-price tickets on a first come first served basis, to encourage Cobseo Full and Associate members working within this sector to attend, particularly smaller charities who might not otherwise have been able to.

The Soldiers’ Charity Supports ‘Back To The Beaches’ with The Taxi Charity

The Taxi Charity For Military Veterans, formally known as The London Taxi Benevolent Association For War Disabled (LTBAFWD), was founded on the 17th February 1948 in London.

The Taxi Charity are a group of London taxi drivers who volunteer their services to take veterans on a range of trips. They span from day trips around Britain to historical spots throughout Europe such as: Normandy, Dunkirk, and Wageningen, Netherlands.

Bravehound Wins ‘Best Charity’ at National Lottery Awards

Glen Art’s Bravehound Project won the “Best Charity” category award at this years’ National Lottery Awards.

With a prize of £5,000, veterans Jimmy Church, Lee Aitchison and volunteers, along with Glen Art’s Founder Fiona MacDonald attended the award ceremony in London which will be shown on BBC1 on September 27th at 10.45pm

Convicts find Contentment! Documentary/Discussion at Stoll Veterans Centre

YOU ARE INVITED to attend a very special free event at 7.00pm-8.30pm on Thursday 28th September 2017 at STOLL Veterans Community Hall in Fulham.

Another chance to see this award winning short film, “INSIDE PEACE”, which portrays the transformation of 4 convicts, tracking their journey from inside prison through to lasting freedom on the outside.
