Army dependents with learning disabilities supported by The Soldiers’ Charity with grant to HFT

Hft, a charity that provides services for people with learning disabilities throughout England has received financial support from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. The Soldiers’ Charity has been providing assistance to Hft for more than 25 years and the latest grant is for £16,000.

A spokesperson from Hft said about the donation: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive the recent donation towards our work supporting people with learning disabilities, and particularly the close Army dependents living in our services.

Finchale presents cheque to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity

Durham based charity Finchale’s CEO, Mel Pears MBE, presented a cheque for £355.00 to Lieutenant Colonel Barnbrook, Regional Director North East of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, at a ceremony at Finchale’s site in Pity Me on Thursday 23rd March 2017.

Finchale has worked with The Soldiers’ Charity over the past 2 years to provide tailored support to veterans from the North East of England to enable them to move from social exclusion to sustained employment.

The Soldiers’ Charity awards Combat Stress a grant of £250,000

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has awarded Combat Stress a grant of £250,000 to help provide occupational therapy within their treatment centres.

Combat Stress offers occupational therapy to all veterans undertaking a residential programme at one of their three treatment centres and over the past year have introduced occupational therapists to their community teams.

The Duke of Cambridge Launches Groundbreaking UK First – New SkillForce Prince William Award Programme To Give Children Confidence and Resilience For Life

The Duke of Cambridge has launching a groundbreaking new award programme run by SkillForce in his name today [March 1st 2017] to help schoolchildren build character, confidence and resilience. The SkillForce Prince William Award is the first award scheme of its kind. Delivered by the national education charity SkillForce, it targets younger children from six-years-old as well as teenagers. Aimed at six to 14-year-olds, the award programme draws on the expertise and skills of predominantly ex-Services personnel who work as SkillForce instructors.

Grants to charities that support the serving Army

The closing date for the next round of applications for grants from The Army Central Fund is Friday 31 March 2017. Successful applicants will receive their grant in the period 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018.

The majority of the funds available are awarded directly to the Army for garrison and unit projects and to the Army Sport Control Board and the Army Families Federation. In addition, there is some scope to award smaller project grants to those charities, including Cobseo members, that provide support to the serving Army and/or their immediate families.
