NFA Contributes To New Exhibition At Blenheim Palace

The Not Forgotten Association is delighted to be involved in the latest exciting exhibition run by the Blenheim Art Foundation. Entitled ‘SOFTER: Jenny Holzer at Blenheim Palace’, this solo exhibition by the renowned American artist addresses our military and political history in relation to themes of power, conflict and activism. The exhibition opened on September 28th and runs until December 31st at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire.

Royal Gardens Visit For 51 Veterans

This week the NFA ran its regular visit to the gardens at Highgrove, the private residence of TRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.The group of 51 veterans, some of who had travelled considerable distances, were drawn from 10 different military groups, associations and charities ranging from the WRENS to Band of Brothers.

NFA Teams Up With The Jubilee Sailing Trust

Next year the NFA will be offering the opportunity for 12 invited beneficiaries to take part in The Lord Dannatt Round Britain Challenge. They will take part in the 10-day voyage from Edinburgh to Belfast and will team up with cadets from all the services. This tall ship challenge will also commemorate the First World War which led to the founding of the Association. Former head of the Army General The Lord Dannatt is both Patron of the event and President of The Not Forgotten Association.

RAF Full Time Reservist completes last leg of 1434 mile run for military charity

An RAF Full Time Reservist (RAFFTRS) who set himself the task of running 1434 miles in less than ten months has completed his challenge in Llandudno, North Wales. The money raised will be going to Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.

Gareth Prytherch, originally from Llandudno, set himself the New Year’s challenge to raise funds for and awareness of the national charity, which provides free lifelong support to vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. He arrived at the number as it is the total distance between the charity’s training and rehabilitation centre in his hometown and Naples, his posting base at the time.

Herefordshire and Nottinghamshire Veteran Community to benefits from DMWS Welfare Service

After the successful implementation of our Aged Veteran Welfare Support Projects in Greater Manchester and Avon & Somerset last year, the Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) is delighted that this unique service is now also available to veterans in Herefordshire and Nottinghamshire.

DMWS has provided medical welfare support to the Armed Forces community for over 70. With the number of aged veterans continuously growing, there is an increased demand for our professional service to support this community when they are receiving medical treatment. In response, DMWS now leads the project that sees 10 organisations deliver health and wellbeing support and activities to veterans aged 65 and over, their families and carers in Herefordshire and Nottinghamshire.

Plans approved for Broughton House veterans care village

Plans for a £12.5m Veterans Care Village at Broughton House in Salford have been approved.

Work on the ambitious scheme is due to start early in 2018 after Salford City Council gave it the go-ahead. Plans were submitted in July following public consultation.

Broughton House is the only home for ex-servicemen and women in the north west and in 2016 celebrated its centenary.

The redevelopment of the two-acre site will be partially paid for through a £3m grant from LIBOR funding, a government initiative to redistribute the proceeds of banking fines. Fundraising by Broughton House is ongoing.
