Under blue skies the crew of 17 veterans – many with little or no sailing experience – were waved a noisy goodbye to crowds of well-wishers at Falmouth harbour in Cornwall at 2pm on Saturday (August 5) on the Turn to Starboard Round Britain Challenge 2017.

Read moreA serving Corporal, based at RAF Lossiemouth, has set himself an ambitious challenge that will see him run 100 official marathons, with his last ever race falling in April 2018 and coinciding with the Royal Air Force centenary.
Jon Ward, a Logistics Mover by trade, ran his first ever marathon back in 2007, when he took on the 26.2 mile race in London, completing it in four hours 56 minutes.
It was two years ago, however, that Jon set his sights on joining the exclusive 100 marathon club.

Brian, 54, from Newark, served as an Army Sniper instructor in the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment. A motorbike accident seven years ago, which Brian cannot recall, led to Brian having to have his right leg amputated.”
Last year Brian climbed Mount Snowdon with his daughter to support the charity and not content with challenging himself just the once, he wanted to complete another.
Read moreTeams from the Army, Navy and RAF competed in the annual OA Inter-Services Triathlon, on Wednesday 26th July at Cotswold Water Park. The RAF won both the men and women’s individual races, while the Army dominated the team categories.
The event, sponsored by the Officers’ Association (OA), was organised this year by the RAF Triathlon Association. Competitors swam through 1.5 km of open water, cycled 41 km of tricky terrain and finished the course with a 10 km run. The rain added an extra challenge, making the road and track slippery.

The Invictus Games is an international adaptive sporting event for wounded injured and sick servicemen and women, which was first held in London in 2014. This year’s Games kick off in Toronto on 23 September, with the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge marking the first opportunity for all 17 competing nations to win a medal.
