Thanks to funding from Help for Heroes, we were once again able to take two groups of injured servicemen on white water canoeing trips to the French Alps – perhaps the most exhilarating and beneficial activity in our entire programme of events.
These trips embody our motto ‘From Comradeship To Challenge’ and follow our unique formula of mixing injured serving men and women with veterans of different ages, services and campaigns.

Read moreThe Veterans Pain Clinic is free of charge to all veterans who are able to provide proof of service. The costs will be covered by the Hospitals’ Military Grants Fund charity.
The consultant is Dr Dominic Aldington. Having served in the Royal Army Medical Corps he was the Subject Matter Expert in Pain to the Surgeon General and was responsible for organising pain relief from the point of injury until a casualty left the service.

The Royal Star & Garter Homes welcomed distinguished guests including The Rt Hon The Earl Howe, Minister of State for Defence, and Air Chief Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Sir Stephen Hillier, who led the ceremony.
Sir Stephen Hillier was met by the Charity’s Chairman, Major General Tim Tyler, and Chairman of Wycombe Council, Councillor Suzanne Brown. Sir Stephen was invited to carry out the traditional Saxon ritual of anointing a yew tree branch attached to the last roof beam with wine, oil, corn and salt symbolising wisdom, liberty, prosperity and hospitality. The beam was then hoisted into its final position.

Brian, 54, from Newark, served as an Army Sniper instructor in the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment. A motorbike accident seven years ago, which Brian cannot recall, led to Brian having to have his right leg amputated.”
Last year Brian climbed Mount Snowdon with his daughter to support the charity and not content with challenging himself just the once, he wanted to complete another.
Read moreLast year, The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home (QAHH) which cares for physically disabled ex-Servicemen and women, was awarded a grant from the Aged Veterans Fund to provide free physiotherapy sessions to veterans aged over 65 living in the local area. For the first time, QAHH was able to open its doors to non-residents at weekends, to help those veterans who need physiotherapy to stay as mobile and active as possible. The sessions, provided free of charge by The Chancellor using LIBOR Funds, were held on Saturdays when the Physiotherapy department is usually closed, and over the last year has welcomed 68 veterans aged between 66 and 96 years old.

Neil Heritage, 36, from Dorset, is set to climb the Matterhorn next month in his second attempt to summit the mountain. If Neil and his team reach the summit, he will be the first double above knee amputee to complete the challenge.
The former corporal, who was injured by a suicide bomber in Iraq in 2004, attempted the climb last year but had to make the decision to turn back.
Read moreFundraising for Mission Motorsport, next weekend a group of intrepid cyclists will be competing in the Rad Am Ring, 24hr cycle challenge at the Nurburging, in the Eifel region of Germany. Each lap is 26km and includes a 1500 ft climb. Two laps is the equivalent of cycling up Scafell Pyke. Each rider hopes to complete at least 8 laps within the 24hrs and included in the team will be Para-Olympian Gold Medallist Jon-Allan Butterworth, getting his legs back in shape after his Rio gold medal of 2016.

The walk started by going around the famous 26km Nurburgring Nordschleife race circuit and then setting off cross-country, through the German Eifel, crossing the border, via some overgrown WWII Siegfried Line anti-tank ‘dragons teeth’ defences, into the Belgium Ardennes
