Find out how to use the cyber skills and experience you have gained in the Armed Forces to find work in cyber security, and learn about the opportunities at BT. This event is specifically for Service leavers and veterans, and there are two sessions for people at different points in their transition journey.
The former Royal Navy officer shares his transition story to becoming a freelance Sustainability Consultant.
Tell me about your military career
I joined the Royal Navy as a warfare officer straight from university. I was lucky enough to spend several years doing what I joined up to do – frontline weather forecasting at sea as a hydrographic and meteorological specialist. Following an operations tour in Basra, I became a Principal Warfare Officer. I returned to my specialisation at the end of my career.

Read moreKent Police is working with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity to identify serving personnel, veterans and their families in custody.
Individuals can then refer themselves to the charity or a Kent Police officer or staff member can make the referral on their behalf.
They will then be able to gain access to practical, emotional and financial advice through SSAFA, which it is hoped will lessen their chances of coming into contact with the police again in the future.

The research, conducted by the University of York and funded by the Forces in Mind Trust, showed that the veterans who took part in the study experienced a varied quality of advice on transitioning from the Armed Forces and inconsistent support from local housing authorities.
