The report, entitled Call to Mind: United Kingdom – Common Themes and Findings from the Reviews of Veterans’ and their Families’ Mental and Related Health Needs in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, was presented to the Ministry of Defence and Department of Health UK Partnership Board to formally launch this final summary. It draws together the key issues and findings from the series of four Call to Mind reports for England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, all of which were completed between 2015 and 2017.

Travelling just by bike, the Tour de Troops set out from Edinburgh on 27th May, where they cycled for an average of 100 miles per day, before arriving in Bielefield, Germany on 11th June.
The event, sponsored by Kirintec – a security technology company, saw the determined cyclists from the British Army swap blast suits for Lycra, raising money for the Felix Fund, a charity which helps those affected by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

Housing Options Scotland (HOS), a Scottish Charity providing housing information and guidance to disabled people, seniors and veterans, has today published the results of a research highlighting the housing advice, information and support pathways experienced by the armed forces community. This unique piece of research was commissioned by The Scottish Government Veterans Fund, with the objective of providing robust learnings from those at different stages in the armed forces.
HOS initially looked at survey responses from 116 adults aged between 25 and 74, with the largest group of respondents being men (87%) who had served or were still serving in the Army (71%).

Steve Parfit, 45 and from Exminster, will be attempting the 17,600ft climb on February 1, with the entire trek expected to take 17 days. He says: “To be honest I’m not really sure why I signed up to it! I am excited, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pretty nervous too!”
