Isle of Man Post Office introduces stamps to mark RAF100

As a tribute to all who have served in the Royal Air Force in the last century, Isle of Man Post Office has commissioned a set of eight commemorative stamps.

The stamps are officially licensed by the Ministry of Defence, highlighting the rich history and legacy of the RAF – the world’s first independent air force, founded on 1 April, 2018.

A unique feature of this stamp collection is the incredible depth of information that each stamp contains in relation to the RAF history.

Captain James Wadsworth CGC launches 2018 ultra challenges

Captain James Wadsworth CGC has launched hard endurance events to raise funds for the Felix Fund, which supports bomb disposal experts and their families through therapeutic breaks.

With years of fundraising under his belt, Capt. Wadsworth has launched The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge for 2018, which will see participants running and cycling across difficult terrains and conditions. The two tough endurance challenges will take place between June and July.

Chris Williams OBE presented with Francis Elkin Award

On Friday 24th November at the Royal Yachting Association’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Chris Williams OBE was presented with the 2017 Francis Elkin Award recognising his work as founder and Chairman of The Gwennili Trust, a voluntary organisation which provides offshore crewing opportunities for people of all ages with disabilities.

The Francis Elkin Award is presented each year to an individual who has made a significant contribution in time, effort and personal endeavour to enable people with disabilities to become involved in sailing. Chris was selected as a winner by the RYA Honours and Awards Panel.

Military charity invites artisans to exhibit at Chateau Rhianfa

A military charity is inviting local artisans to exhibit their work at a craft fair held at Chateau Rhianfa.

Blind Veterans UK, the charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, is inviting local artisans to exhibit their unique crafts and products at the Artisan Craft Fair. The event will take place on both March 3 and March 4, from 11am to 4pm.

Victoria Beech, Blind Veterans UK Regional Fundraiser, says: “We’re excited to be returning to Chateau Rhianfa following our hugely successful Winter Market in November.
