Skiing Week Brings Injured Veterans Together

This week The Not Forgotten Association is hosting a skiing holiday in La Plagne, France for 14 injured veterans drawn from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The group includes four amputees and represents a wide range of Army Regiments and the RAF. Help for Heroes, Stoll and Blesma have all nominated guests, most of whom have not taken part in an NFA activity or event previously.

Future Of Accommodation Report

The Future Accommodation Model (FAM) survey results have now been published. These will be used as part of the on-going policy development for the FAM, which will combine the survey with other results (e.g. the single Service Families Federations’ surveys) and Focus Group findings to refine the accommodation offer based on your feedback.

The Not Forgotten Association’s Head of Events Rosie Thompson is running in the Marathon des Sables in April this year to raise funds for injured service men and women. After completing many fundraising half and full marathons in the past, raising over £170,000 for the charity, Rosie wanted to set herself a tougher challenge.

Pain Management Programme for Veterans

King Edward VII’s Hospital understands the immense distress and suffering that persistent pain can cause; as much as being physiological, pain can also seriously affect thoughts and emotions, which in turn feeds back into the pain system. Thus, persistent pain often adversely impacts on relationships, work, hobbies, interests and other activities, as well as mood and overall wellbeing. As a consequence, those suffering from chronic pain often find themselves feeling helpless and lacking the confidence to continue with previously meaningful activities.
