BSI Resettlement Awards – deadline for entries 15th September

The BSI Resettlement Awards, in association with Pathfinder Magazine, exist to celebrate the achievements of Service Leavers who have successfully progressed through the transition from life in the Armed Forces to life as a civilian and to acknowledge the efforts of organisations offering support to the Service Leaver during this transition.

The Awards will be presented to the winners at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester on October 31st, 2017.

Been involved in seafaring? Join a telephone group with other Seafarers

“It’s free and fun, just like chatting in the mess, and you can do it from the comfort of your home.”

Seafarers Link is celebrating its tenth anniversary with an ambitious target of creating an additional 10 telephone friendship groups for former Seafarers and dependants.

The project hosts free conference calls for former seafarers and their families in a partnership between Community Network and both SFUK and MN Fund. It was devised in response to recommendations in a major report on Seafarers welfare, Supporting Seafarers and Their Families: The Challenges for the Future, commissioned by Maritime Charities Group in 2007.

Top Philanthropist Hintze’s Contribution Recognised at National Naval Charity

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has awarded noted philanthropist and friend of the charity, Sir Michael Hintze, the role of Senior Vice Patron.

This key ambassadorial role recognises Sir Michael’s extraordinary encouragement and support of the RNRMC over the last eight years, which has been invaluable as the Charity has established itself on the national scene.

Sir Michael Hintze’s leadership and example have been crucial in attracting philanthropic donations to assist the work of the charity. His loyalty, the momentum that his support has generated, and the generosity of the Hintze Family Foundation, has enabled the RNRMC in its mission to support sailors, marines and their families, for life.

Royal Naval Association honours modern naval heroes at Biennial Cenotaph Parade – Sunday 10 Sept

Three Modern naval heroes will be honoured on Sunday 10 September at the Naval Associations’ Biennial Parade at the Cenotaph by the dedication of 3 wheelchair accessible minibuses provided by the LIBOR fund. Witnessed by 500 naval veterans, a naval volunteer band, 70 sailors in the final stages of their professional training, sea cadets and 60 standards. The buses will be used to assist socially isolated veterans get out and about, including going to the pub!
