AFF seeks support from transitioning families

AFF is researching the challenges that Armed Forces families may experience when transitioning to civilian life, as well as the support available to them, so we can identify any gaps.

We would like to follow families through the transition process to gain a better understanding of the practical and emotional aspirations and challenges that surround transition, to give us a much broader understanding of the needs and wants of transitioning families.

Soldiers to cycle 1,500 miles in first-ever charity ‘Tour de Troops’

Twenty bomb disposal experts from the British Army are preparing to cover 1,500 miles by bike to raise funds for Felix Fund – the charity for those affected by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

Switching blast suits for Lycra, the cyclists will begin their ride from Edinburgh to Bielefeld in Germany on June 12th and average about 100 miles per day. In just 15 days, they will visit every security-cleared EOD regiment in the first-ever Tour de Troops.

DMWS meets peers at the House of Lords reception

On May 16, together with Lord Smith of Kelvin KT CH (on behalf or Baroness Emerton DBE DL), the Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) hosted a reception in the House of Lords to update key peers from Defence, Health and Policing about the organisation. In the Role of Royal Patron of DMWS Her Royal Highness, The Countess of Wessex, GCVO attended as a key advocate of the Charity’s work.

Transition Story: let your curiosity lead the way

You may be forgiven for thinking that Rachel’s voluntary commitments at Barclays sound as demanding and time consuming as her full-time work. From her activities as co-chair of one of the Barclay’s Women’s Initiative Networks, to organising the annual Light The Night Dragon Boat race for Bloodwise and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Rachel also supports the veteran community through military Insight days and workshops.

M&S, Rolls-Royce and City of London Corporation take on Parachute Regiment Soldiers at London Charity Football Tournament  

Nine teams of employees from M&S, Rolls-Royce, The City of London Corporation, Osborne, and Stackhouse Poland, have competed against Paratroopers from 4th Battalion, Parachute Regiment, in a charity six-a-side football tournament held at Queen’s Park Rangers FC on Friday the 12th May.

The M&S B team were crowned champions, playing Rolls-Royce in the final and winning on penalties.
