Mal on a Mission

WHEN you’ve been shot at by snipers in Gornji Vakuf at the height of the Bosnian war, running around a lake in the middle of the night will hold few fears for former Sergeant Major Mal Bellamy.

The 42-year-old has made the switch from serving his country to raising money for veterans under the banner of the Royal British Legion.

Not content with doing a pitch black sponsored run around Kielder Lake, Northumberland this Mothers’ Day, Mal has also signed up to be the Legion’s Poppy Appeal Organiser for 2017 in his home town of Appleby, Cumbria.

Afghanistan veteran takes on Nuclear races for Military Charity 

A former solider, who lost his right leg whilst serving in Afghanistan, is taking on his first mud run since he was injured to support Blesma, the Limbless Veterans.

Matty Woollard, 28, from Colchester, will battle the muddy obstacle course at Nuclear Races, Brentwood in May in support of Blesma for the help they have given him since he was injured.

Veterans UK (part of Defence Business Services) are running a Customer Satisfaction Survey. The on-line survey is for both Serving Personnel and Veterans to give their views and feedback on the service they have received, and to help them understand, from the people who use their services, how they can do better.

Iraq War Veteran takes on Nuclear Races for Military Charity

An Iraq War Veteran is set to battle a gruelling muddy obstacle race for Military Charity

Hannah Campbell, who was injured whilst serving in Iraq, is taking on the Nuclear Races this May to help raise awareness for Military Charity, Blesma, the Limbless Veterans.

Blesma are partnering with Nuclear Races in Brentwood for their award winning fun, tough and gritty obstacle race on 13 May. With a Blesma dedicated wave at 12:40 and 500 places to fill, wounded Veterans are asking you to take part alongside them to complete this gruelling 7k race.

Blind veteran Simon Brown shortlisted in the prestigious Sunday Express ‘People’s Choice’ category at Soldiering On Awards 2017

An Iraq War veteran who was blinded in conflict has been shortlisted in the prestigious ‘People’s Choice’ category sponsored by the Sunday Express in the seventh annual Soldiering On Awards.

Simon Brown, 38 and from Leeds, was nominated for the award by national military charity Blind Veterans UK, which has supported him since he lost his sight.

The Soldiers’ Charity awards Combat Stress a grant of £250,000

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has awarded Combat Stress a grant of £250,000 to help provide occupational therapy within their treatment centres.

Combat Stress offers occupational therapy to all veterans undertaking a residential programme at one of their three treatment centres and over the past year have introduced occupational therapists to their community teams.
