Read moreLast week Give Us Time sent four military families – a total of eighteen people and a combination of family and friends, to the fabulous Wood Hall in the Lake District. We would like to thank the hosts for their kind donation of time.
Wood Hall is a stunning house that sleeps eighteen people and has six acres of landscaped gardens. The house has beautiful views across Skiddaw, Grassmore and the Lorton and Buttermere valleys. The gardens, designed by Thomas Mawson in 1910 are a haven.

Simon Gill and his wife Jo both served in the Royal Military Police from the late 1980s, mainly in Northern Ireland. They got married in 1994 and left the Forces three years later. The couple now have two sons, Ben, 15, and Jake, 13.
In 2012 when Jake was seven, he was diagnosed with autism and now attends a specialist school.

Read moreScotty’s Little Soldiers’ founder, Nikki Scott, was kindly flown out to Washington, D.C recently to spend time with U.S. charity TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors). The trip proved to be a memorable one with Nikki returning to the UK with a number of learnings from TAPS.
Nikki founded Scotty’s Little Soldiers in 2010 after the death of her husband Corporal Lee Scott in Afghanistan. The charity supports children across the UK who have lost a parent while serving in the Armed Forces and has great synergy with TAPS in the US, a charity which offers compassionate care to those grieving the loss of a loved one who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces or as a result of their service.
Read moreA very thoughtful young man has donated one of his teddy bears to a local charity to use as their new mascot.
Nine-year-old Harvey Tress, who goes to Seaside School in Lancing, donated his bear to local charity, Care for Veterans, where his Mum works as a Healthcare Assistant.
The bear, which has been nicknamed Valiant, is a fitting mascot for the charity as his fur is patterned with Army camouflage, and he comes wearing fatigues and combat boots.

Read moreChildren’s Armed Forces charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, was chosen as one of seven charities to benefit from donations made to the Royal Wedding last month, and thanks to the Royal couple, the charity has received an incredible swell of awareness thanks to the new Duke and Duchess’s support over the last few weeks.
All press and media activity surrounding the Royal Wedding has helped raise the charity’s profile both on a national and international scale and within the third sector significantly.

Read moreThe Secretary of State for Defence, Rt Hon Gavin Williamson CBE, was a special guest of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity last month.
The Member of Parliament for South Staffordshire met staff from the national charity of the Royal Navy alongside guests from Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) and the Portsmouth City Council.
Mr Williamson’s visit to Portsmouth coincided with the announcement that HMS Queen Elizabeth will soon travel on its first major overseas deployment to New York. As the aircraft carrier’s affiliate charity, the RNRMC will play a role in supporting the sailors on board, many of whom will be deployed for up to 9 months at a time.
