Prince Harry and Meghan Markle choose Scotty’s Little Soldiers as Royal Wedding Beneficiaries

Children’s Armed Forces charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, has been selected by Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle, to benefit from donations marking the couple’s May 19th wedding ceremony.

Personally selected by Prince Harry and Ms Markle, the couple have asked that anyone who may wish to purchase them a wedding gift, instead considers donating to one of their seven chosen charities, including Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

‘Alabaré ambassadors event success’

‘Disaster in the Caribbean’ a fundraising event held by Wiltshire-based charity Alabaré’s ambassadors helped to raise over £3,000 for their Wiltshire Homes for Veterans service.

The evening at St. Francis’ Church Salisbury, saw a captivating talk by Lt Col Paul Maynard MA BSc RM of 40 commando Royal Marines, who led the humanitarian relief mission across the Caribbean in the wake of hurricanes Maria, Jose and Irma.

Lace up with team SSAFA for the Aberdeen Kiltwalk

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is calling on Aberdeen residents to lace up their trainers, don their kilts and sign up to take part in the Kiltwalk on Sunday 3 June.

Participants can choose from a 23, 15 or 6 mile walk through Aberdeen to raise money for the SSAFA Aberdeen branch, who provide support to veterans and their families in the area. From the funds raised the Hunter Foundation will add an extra 40%.

So you think you know the RAF? All 100 years of history? Think again!

For example, did you know the Spitfire was first named something rather less intimidating? Or do you know what the code word angels refers to?

The RAF Benevolent Fund has launched a RAF100 quiz, featuring questions to test even the most knowledgeable aviation experts with multiple choice and true or false questions. Those who pass the test and answer all the questions correctly are given the opportunity to download one of a series of special edition commemorative posters.

18 countries, 374 hours and seven pairs of trainers later, RAF Corporal completes centenary challenge

Today, marathon man Corporal Jon Ward has completed his 100th official marathon in Gravesend, Kent, to mark the Royal Air Force centenary and support the RAF’s leading welfare charity, the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Since his challenge began, Jon, who is based at RAF Lossiemouth, has gone through seven pairs of trainers, racked up more than 374 hours of race running in 18 different countries and shaved more than two hours off his finish time.

Climbing a 6000m Himalayan peak for Haig Housing Trust
Mike will be covering all costs myself and going with a group of fellow mountaineers on 12-29th April this year. He will endure some scrambling ridges,Technical climbs, Glacier crossings, a 300m ice wall to scale and a airy summit ridge, and a 300m abseil, all at altitude. we will have a support team of Sherpa’s and Yaks to carry our heavy gear to Base camp. Once completed all we have to do is wait for a weather window to fly out of Lukla airfield!!

UK & USA Bomb Disposal Charities Join Forces to raise funds in Washington DC

Two charities on either side of the Atlantic will once again be coming together to raise awareness and funds for the remarkable men and women of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Search community. In 2016 we held the Inaugural EOD charities Gala in London, and on 15th September 2018 we are pleased to announce another joint event this time at the Lansdowne Resort, Leesburg, VA. This event – hosted by Britain’s Felix Fund and America’s EOD Warrior Foundation – will raise funds for the two charities who support the EOD community.
