The Veterans’ Pain Clinic – Next appointments available Monday 13th November

The first six months have received outstanding feedback. Launched in June, the Veterans’ Pain Clinic, part of the Centre for Veterans’ Health, at King Edward VII’s Hospital has been a great success.

The clinic is run at the Centre for Veterans’ Health, King Edward VII’s Hospital in association with Supporting Wounded Veterans. These appointments are free of charge – they just need your proof of service & a GP referral letter.

Military charity invites you to test your nerve with Halloween-themed outdoor experience

A local military charity is inviting local residents to celebrate Halloween by testing their nerve at ‘Play Ground’, an outdoor theatre experience.

Blind Veterans UK, the charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, will be hosting a fully interactive theatre experience within the grounds of its training and rehabilitation centre in Llandudno.

Following on from the success of last year’s ‘Trapped’ and 2015’s ‘Into the Woods’, the third instalment promises to be every bit as chilling. A variety of horrors will be awaiting participants during a 40 minute experience, a theatrical performance written and performed by A Play Fitted Theatre Company, which will play out like a live horror film.

The Specialist Works donates £50,000 of advertising space to Combat Stress

Global Brand Performance Media Agency, The Specialist Works, has kindly donated £50,000 worth of advertising space through their Goodwill Rocks initiative to help Combat Stress promote the support they offer to former servicemen and women.

The Goodwill Rocks initiative provides charities with free or low-cost marketing by utilising left over advertising space, enabling them to create efficient fundraising or awareness campaigns in a cost effective way.

Another brilliant Troop Aid ball!

The atmosphere was electric when over 350 guests gathered at the National Conference Centre, home of the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull for Troop Aid’s highest profile event of the year, the Annual Ball. A registered charity, Troop Aid’s patron is HRH The Prince of Wales.

All were greeted upon arrival by a guard of honour. From young Sea Cadets to current military personnel, from members of the Royal British Legion to a Chelsea Pensioner, the evening appealed to everyone who was keen to support the Midlands based charity that supports our injured service troops.

Mental Health First Aid is for everyone

You would probably know what to do if your colleague became physically ill. But would you know what to do if someone suffered from poor mental health?

Approximately 10 million work days are lost in the UK due to poor mental health, costing the UK economy around £100 billion each year. This problem is not restricted to the workplace as on average 3 children in every classroom have a mental health issue.

We at DMWS Training therefore believe that every workplace, including schools, should have a Mental Health First Aider as well as a physical First Aider.
