Hauda joined the Army over 75 years ago, in the middle of World War II. It wasn’t long before he found himself in the jungles of Burma with the 3rd Assam Rifles.
He served with the British Army through the bitter fighting that followed Japan’s invasion. The tropical climate meant that battles were especially challenging.

Read moreA woman from Salisbury is taking on the London Marathon this April for Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.
Marie Manning, 38 and originally from Llanfairfechan, Wales, will be running the world famous course on behalf of the charity which has supported her Grandfather, Hywel, since last May. She says: “He’s a blind veteran himself and lives in North Wales, and as a result has received so much support from the charity’s Llandudno Centre. They’ve basically given him another life. Without them, he’d be massively restricted in terms of where he could go.”
Read more96 year old Squadron Leader Allan Scott DFM returned to Biggin Hill earlier this month and took to the skies in a beloved Spitfire where he performed a flypast and victory roll.
Allan originally flew from Biggin Hill in 1941, towards the end of the Battle of Britain. Following his time there, he was posted to Malta, which was under siege with continual raids by the Luftwaffe and the RAF were battling against heavy odds. He flew his Spitfire off HMS Eagle to the island on 21st July 1942, where he saw much action – including a victory during Operation Pedestal on 13th August.
