Warrior Programme – Residential Courses 2019/2020

The Warrior Programme runs residential training courses which are FREE to participants with accommodation and full board included.

The Warrior Programme is a personal transformational, motivational and educational course run over 3 days. More than 800 individuals, with over 600 of whom being ex Services and Serving Personnel, have attended the course. Using coaching techniques it enables individuals to take control of their lives, increase confidence, provide motivation and direction to allow them to lead a healthy and balanced life.

NHS mental health services for veterans

Mental illness is common and can affect anyone, including serving and ex-members of the armed forces and their families. While some people cope by getting support from their family and friends, or by getting help with other issues in their lives, others need clinical care and treatment, which could be from the NHS, support groups or charities.

Although it’s completely normal to experience anxiety or depression after traumatic events, this can be tough to deal with. Furthermore, the culture of the armed forces can make seeking help for a mental health problem appear difficult.

The Veterans’ Gateway records over 10,000 enquiries as it celebrates its first year in service

The Veterans’ Gateway, the 24-hour service that helps former service men and women to navigate their new lives as civilians, has recorded over 10,000 enquiries and 183,420 website users since its launch, one year ago yesterday, 5th July 2018.

Designed to offer a one stop shop through which veterans can access advice on a vast range of areas, from housing to health concerns, the Veterans’ Gateway has seen over 37,000 click throughs to external sites, with the majority of users requesting advice on finance.

Newly-published medical study confirms significant therapeutic benefits of Scuba Diving

A seminal study into the therapeutic benefits of scuba diving by students from the University of Sheffield’s Medical School has been published this week.

The study is published in the Journal of Disability and Rehabilitation under the title: “Can scuba diving offer therapeutic benefit to military veterans experiencing physical and psychological injuries as a result of combat? A service evaluation of Deptherapy UK.”
