OA to Target Operations Management as a Career Option with New Workshop

The Officers’ Association will target Operations Management as a potential job sector for transitioning officers with a workshop in York, on Feb 15th, 2017.

Hosted by Portakabin, the workshop will combine insight into the sector with practical experiences from key speakers as well as looking at the military qualifications that will translate across to the sector. Advice on shaping applications (and CV’s) to target the sector will be available.

Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity launches fundraising campaign to mark 100th anniversary of the Army v Navy rugby match

The national charity of the Royal Navy has launched a new fundraising campaign, Twickenham 100, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Army v Navy rugby match, held at Twickenham Stadium.

The campaign challenges groups and individuals nationwide to carry out their own fundraising activities, of any description, related to the number 100 in the run up to match day on 29 April to raise funds for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

Vice Patron Lance Batchelor visits Royal Navy charity HQ

Staff at The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) were delighted to recently spend time with their Vice Patron and major donor, Honorary Commander Lance Batchelor RNR.

Lance, who toured the charity’s premises accompanied by his wife Wendy, is the CEO of Saga plc, the FTSE-listed provider of Insurance, Travel, Financial Services and Homecare to the over 50s.

Royal Navy Dinghy Sailors in new record-breaking bid

Two sailors have been backed by two charities as they plan to break their own dinghy endurance world record.

The ambitious voyage, from Plymouth to Scotland, will not only raise awareness of dinghy sailing as a sport, especially within the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, but also raise awareness and funds for the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and Bowel Cancer UK.

Forces Media Academy – Service Leavers and Veterans Offered Free Media Course

The Forces Media Academy has launched a unique media course for service leavers and veterans which will be taught in a live media environment.

Students on the free one-year Higher National Certificate (HNC) Media Production Course also receive a bursary of £18k to help with living costs.

New Forces in Mind Trust award: Directory of Social Change to develop the directory of UK military charities as part of three year ‘Armed Forces Charities Project’

A grant of £ 447,459.00 has been awarded to the Directory of Social Change (DSC) for a 3-year project to develop the current online directory of UK military charities, as well as producing a series of themed research reports on the sector, and another in-depth Sector Insight: Armed Forces Charities report in 2019.

Skiing Week Brings Injured Veterans Together

This week The Not Forgotten Association is hosting a skiing holiday in La Plagne, France for 14 injured veterans drawn from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The group includes four amputees and represents a wide range of Army Regiments and the RAF. Help for Heroes, Stoll and Blesma have all nominated guests, most of whom have not taken part in an NFA activity or event previously.
