X-Forces Wins Soldiering On Business Enterprise Award
On Friday 24th March, X-Forces was delighted to join members of the Armed Forces, past and present, and those that support them across the board at the Soldering On Awards 2017. We are honoured to have won the Business Enterprise category!
X-Forces was shortlisted amongst a group of fantastic finalists including; Ex-Military Careers, Huggable Heroes, Heropreneurs and Unsung Hero (University of Wolverhampton).

Two inspiring American and British wounded veterans – Karl Hinett and Ivan Castro – are running the 2017 Boston Marathon on 17 April and the Virgin Money London Marathon on 23 April (that’s two marathons in a week!), side-by-side, in support of The Royal Foundation’s Heads Together campaign. They will be raising funds and awareness of the issue of military mental health for both UK and US veterans with funds raised in the UK going to Contact, a Heads Together Charity Partner and coalition of leading military mental health organisations including Help for Heroes and Walking with the Wounded.

The Forces Friends team was handed the prestigious award during a ceremony at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster, hosted by Angela Rippon and Cassidy Little, in recognition of their commitment and collaborative approach to supporting the Armed Forces community.

The free Higher National Certificate (HNC) Media Production Course is open to service leavers and veterans, and all students on the one-year course also receive a bursary of £18k.
Students learn alongside industry experts and will be taught core modules such as Camera and Lighting Skills, and Film and Video Editing. Specialist modules include Production of Multi-Media Programmes and Advertising Campaigns.

Read moreThe leading maritime charity, Seafarers UK, is holding its Centenary Dinner at Guildhall this evening, exactly 100 years to the day since the first meeting was held in 1917 in the City of London to discuss the formation of the charity (previously known as King George’s Fund for Sailors).
Almost 300 guests will attend a formal Reception and Dinner in Guildhall to mark the occasion. Celebrated guests will include HRH The Earl of Wessex (President of the charity since 2012, when he succeeded The Duke of Edinburgh), Admiral of The Fleet The Lord Boyce, Admiral The Lord West of Spithead and the First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Philip Jones.

We were a little worried about the ski conditions as the Alps have had a terrible year and this ski week wasn’t starting until the 11th March, the latest in the season we have ever had. Penny Melville-Brown OBE from Fareham was initially invited to compete for the $25,000 prize as a result of the profile she has built for herself across the internet and social media through her online baking project, Baking Blind. If successful, Penny intends to take the project global. First, however, she’ll be required to draw up a detailed plan of exactly how she’d intend to use the money if she were to win.
