Officers’ Association Sponsors BSI Resettlement Awards

The Officers’ Association (OA) is sponsoring the annual BSI Resettlement Awards, and is also part of the judging panel.

The BSI Resettlement Awards celebrate Service Leavers who successfully transition from military to civilian life, as well as the people and organisations that support them. The awards include Service Leaver of the year; Employer Committed to Employing Service Leavers; Service Leaver’s Independent Business Start-up of the Year and Service Leavers’ Training Company of the Year. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Manchester on 31st October 2017.

5th October 2017 – Networking Workshop – Leeds

This event is not to be missed if you are keen to improve your opportunities with employers. You can become a great networker in just one hour- a great skill to have when considering a second career.

Due to past popularity and success, a further Networking Workshop is taking place in Leeds. This workshop will be led by Colin Tweedie, a Business Development Consultant who will thoroughly explore the most effective ways to network with potential employers. Colin will have time to convince those with trepidation about networking that there is nothing to fear, answering any queries with over 30 years of experience behind him. If you want to enhance your networking skills and understand how to best use networking to your advantage then this is the event for you.

BSI Resettlement Awards – deadline for entries 15th September

The BSI Resettlement Awards, in association with Pathfinder Magazine, exist to celebrate the achievements of Service Leavers who have successfully progressed through the transition from life in the Armed Forces to life as a civilian and to acknowledge the efforts of organisations offering support to the Service Leaver during this transition.

The Awards will be presented to the winners at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester on October 31st, 2017.

Purpose
The aim of telephone and video interviews is to reduce the number of applicants to a shortlist. The interviewer wants to know if you can support the claims you made on your CV. If it goes well, you will usually be invited for a face-to-face interview.

7th September 2017: North West Careers Access Fair – Manchester

11th September 2017: Carillion Vocational CV Workshop, Construction – Nottinghamshire

This event aims to inform Service Leavers of the best ways to tailor their CV in order to gain interviews for executive and management roles in the construction industry. The workshop will look at the importance of highlighting key skills, attributes and qualifications that will lead to employment within this industry.

The MD of Carillion Construction Services will open the event and presentations from two Operations Directors from the Building and Infrastructure divisions will follow. These presentations will cover some of the key things they look for in candidates.
