It almost feels as though the State Apartments’ opulent, red and gold setting was designed specifically for Christmas celebrations, as it never fails to put everyone is a mood of great cheer and merriment. Those who visit leave feeling joyful with lasting memories made of a wonderful and very special afternoon.
This year was no exception as nearly 300 guests were hosted by HRH The Duchess of Gloucester, who took a considerable amount of time to meet and talk with many of those in attendance.

Read moreThe Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund has awarded a grant of £80,000 in September 2017 toward SSAFA’s Casework service and other services that alleviate need, suffering and distress.
Casework sits at the heart of SSAFA’s work and provides personalised, holistic support to those currently serving, reserves, ex-service men and women, and their families. In recent years their Casework service has seen increasing numbers of working age beneficiaries requiring help. These beneficiaries have complex needs, including financial hardship, mental wellbeing issues, inadequate housing and lack of employment.

Read moreBryony Fuller, one of the first female officers to graduate from RAF College Cranwell, is leading a new campaign encouraging Service leavers and their dependants to contact the OA for assistance should they need advice or financial help.
The Wiltshire based former officer broke her neck, back and spinal cord after she fell down the stairs, an accident that left her paralysed on the floor for 30 hours. Bryony spent 12 weeks in the Intensive Care Unit followed by nine months recovering on a spinal injury ward.
